2022 Triumph Trident 660: Make Life a Ride

Have you ever wished your motorcycle was born in the ’50s? Triumph is here to help. The British brand’s Trident 660 brings a retro-inspired aesthetic to the middleweight class, much like Yamaha did with its XSR900. If you’re looking for a new bike that looks and sounds old-school, the Trident is worth looking.
Triumph traces its roots back to 1902, when Germany born engineer Siegfried Bettmann founded the company in London. By 1915 it had moved into motorcycle production and was selling more than half of all bikes made in Britain in just two years. In 1936, Triumph merged with another British manufacturer, Ariel Motorcycles.
You probably have many questions about the new 2022 Triumph Trident 660.

2022 Triumph Trident 660 Styling and Features

It’s easy to see why this bike should be at the top of your list when you’re looking to buy. The 660 was designed for the everyday rider—and it shows in its features.
It features a distinctive new silhouette, with a modern and contemporary attitude, built around a confident, commanding riding position. A new chassis provides agile handling and all-day riding comfort with premium suspension and brakes. And the 660cc triple engine delivers manageable, accessible performance in its entry-level category. Its unique character was enhanced by advanced rider equipment options that offer even greater control, safety, and connectivity. With its exciting mix of performance, style, and value – this is a game-changing motorcycle that opens up the Triumph three-cylinder experience to a whole new generation of riders.
It has a comfortable riding position that’s not too forward or back, which helps mitigate fatigue on long rides. It also comes with up-to-date electronics like traction control and adjustable ABS brakes and a USB charging port for your cell phone! But despite all these significant upgrades from previous models, this bike still retains its classic British charm.”
ABS and traction control are standard on the Trident 660. Like most street-oriented bikes these days, you get different settings for each that can be tweaked to your liking—you’ll need to do it at a standstill. ABS has two settings; one is tuned for road use, and the other allows more slip at the rear wheel when off-road.

2022 Triumph Trident 660 Specs

At the heart of the 2022 Triumph Trident, 660 is a 660cc inline three-cylinder that generates 81.6 horsepower and 41.4 lb-ft of torque. A six-speed gearbox with assist and slipper clutch handles shifting duties, and power is sent to a final chain drive.

Triumph offers three different riding modes (Rain, Road, Sport) and traction control, with its own off the way and an optional up/down quick shifter. Complementing these electronic aids are a pair of four-piston radial calipers biting on twin 310mm front discs plus ABS. The hydraulically actuated Nissin caliper grabs a single 255mm disc out back for stopping power abetment. There’s also switchable cornering ABS in case you go chasing canyons on your new ride.

The Trident 660 sits on 17-inch cast-aluminum wheels wrapped in Metzeler Racetec RR tires (120/70 front, 180/55 rear) suspended by 41mm conventional forks up front, while at the rear is a preload-adjustable mono-shock with 7 inches of travel. Running ground clearance measures 5 inches while curb weight tips the scales at 403 pounds wet – full tank of fuel included – so there’s plenty of space to slide around before contacting the pavement below, or you can use it to check your lean angle if you prefer to keep the rubber side down instead. Seat height comes in at 31.7 inches while wheelbase measures 48.5 inches long – roughly 12 inches shorter than the Speed Triple RS we rode last year – which makes it easy for riders from all walks of life to get comfortable on this bike whether they plan to commute daily or hit their favorite set of corners over mountain passes during weekends away from ordinary life.
